“I’m as crazy as an outhouse rat and just as hard to kill.”

Cops in Space
Coletti Warlords Series Book 20
by: Gail Koger
Genre: SciFi Romance Action Adventure

Zarek the Coletti Overlord and Lexi’s uncle gives her the Coletti version of the birds and the bees talk:

“Has your father talked to you about the physical differences between a human male and a Coletti?”

“No.” Where was this going?

Uncle Zarek frowned. “Did he explain to you what happens between a male and a female?”
I stared at him in utter horror.  Oh, my, God. He wasn’t going to give me the birds and the bees speech, was he? “Relax I had sex education classes in school.”

“Sex with a Coletti warrior is not the same. I need to educate you on our anatomical differences.”

God, just kill me now. “Do you hafta?”

“Yes, I hafta. Some females find our penis frightening.”

A giggle escaped me. “Seriously? Does it have teeth or something?”

“No.” Uncle Zarek rubbed a hand over his face. “Did you notice the slit in Kaelen’s abdomen?”

I nodded.

“We are a warlike race and to protect our ability to procreate, the Goddess placed our appendages in a shielded pouch inside our abdomens.”

Okay. That kinda made sense. “So, kicking a Coletti warrior in the nuts is only going to piss him off?”

“Exactly.”

What was he being so mysterious about? “Ok, what’s so scary about your man parts?”

Uncle Zarek stared at me for a long moment, and an image formed in my head.

My eyes widened in horror as a snakelike penis with a frill of tentacles around the top slid out of a stomach slit. “Tentacles? Are you freakin’ kidding me? What is it with aliens and tentacles? Ewww.”

“The tentacles increase a female’s pleasure,” Uncle Zarek replied.

The tentacles vibrated wildly like some freaky sex toy. “Oh, hell, no. That is not going inside me. Ever.”

An exasperated frown formed on Uncle Zarek face. “You do not have a choice in the matter.”

“The hell I don’t.”

“Coletti warriors are masters of seduction. Kaelen will simply overcome your reluctance.”

I crossed my arms and said sweetly, “It’s obvious you’ve never dealt with a woman suffering from PMS before. When it’s that time of the month Earth girls are fearless and capable of taking down an armed warrior without breaking a nail. We’re Attila the Hun in a dress.”

“Attila the Hun?

“A conqueror kinda like you.”

BLURB:

Once upon a time, Lexi was a “normal” teenager. Now she’s a galactic cop with a deadly predator as her boss. She gets to deal with flesh eating monsters, alien babies, hunky warlords, space battles, and not so bright bad guys.  Plus, the fate of the universe rests in her hands. What could possibly go wrong? Did we mention the baby? (It’s a boy)

Undisciplined Catalyst
Coletti Warlord Series Book 19

BLURB:

I was sixteen when I found out not only am I an alien hybrid, but monsters called the Tai-Kok were getting ready to invade our world. Guess who gets to stop them? Me. How?

My uncle, the mad scientist, created a machine called the portal that instantaneously sends a test subject from one location to another by converting them into energy. His idea is to port me onto a Tai-Kok ship. All I have to do is leave a bomb, hit the retrieval button on my spiffy traveler’s belt and poof! I’m back on Earth before the Tai-Kok ship goes kaboom. Sounds simple, right?

Wrong. Uncle Ben doesn’t have a clue where I’ll actually appear on the ship. It could be the engine room, the crew quarters, or even the bridge. It’s like playing Russian roulette. The Tai-Kok don’t like surprises or uninvited guests.

To make things even more fun, I have an alien battle commander stuck in my head and I’m related to a powerful Coletti warlord. Yippee. The chances of me living to see eighteen aren’t good.

"Death is a part of freedom. Blood will be spilled whether we fight this war or stand down and stay as slaves. I'm trying to put humans back at the top where we belong. It's all I've ever thought about…freedom and victory. My only purpose in life is to rectify the disposition of this damn world, and I'll do whatever it takes to do that." - Fletcher Rush

“They should be here any minute,” Fletcher muttered.

They’d managed to take care of all the preparations Fletcher had planned, and now he was standing on the city wall by the main gate along with Ji.

“I’m surprised we finished everything,” Ji said, glancing across the field in front of them.

“Me too,” Fletcher admitted. “I think we have a good chance to win this fight.”

“We either win or we die,” Ji said, shuddering after he said it out loud.

“Or they capture us and enslave or torture us.”

“Not helping.”

“Just fight like your life depends on it, because it kind of does,” Fletcher said, casting his gaze out to the path.

“What if they don’t come?” Ji asked.

“Trust me, they’ll come. I might not have confirmation, but based off what that elf said, and Light’s temper, I would bet my life on them attacking.”

The two didn't say anything after that; instead, they just kept watch. The light breeze swayed the leaves and small branches of the many trees that dotted their vision. It had grown quite dark and was hard to see, but Fletcher and Ji still saw the dirt kicking up from the large convoy of vehicles headed toward them.

“Looks like that’s the elves,” Ji said, pulling out an arrow and notching it in his crossbow.

“This should be fun,” Fletcher said, taking the remote control from his pocket and getting ready to use it.

The vehicles got closer and the two saw truck after truck approach, stretching out as far as they could see, each of them packed with bloodthirsty elves.

“Hey, Ji, no matter the outcome of the battle, I just want to say thanks. I wouldn’t be here today without your help,” Fletcher said, turning to his friend.

“Don’t be getting sappy on me now, man,” Ji said, giving Fletcher a light shove. “But seriously, I feel the same… Thanks, Fletcher.”

The car in the lead started closing in and the two of them saw it had a large metal ram built on the front of it.

"Fuck, I think they're going to ram into the gate," Fletcher said, turning to the inside of the city where two dozen soldiers were waiting. "GET READY FOR THE FIRST TRUCK, AND DON'T LIGHT THE OIL UNTIL I GIVE THE ORDER!"

Fletcher turned back to look at the approaching army just before the truck slammed into the main gate. The gate exploded, sending splinters of wood flying in every direction and shaking the strong stone walls.

“Damn—” Fletcher said, getting thrown to the ground by the impact. He got up and looked at the inside of the city. Elves were already rushing out of the vehicle, drawing their weapons before advancing forward.

"I'LL HEAD DOWN!" Ji shouted, shooting off an arrow before he dropped the crossbow and ran down the stairs.

Fletcher turned his attention back toward the convoy that was approaching very fast.

“Wait…” Fletcher softly muttered to himself, his finger resting on the trigger to the makeshift bombs.
The sound of the engines grew louder as the cars neared the city, none of them slowing down in the slightest.

Just a bit more…

“SEE YOU, MOTHERFUCKERS!” Fletcher shouted as he pressed the button, causing the bombs to go off.

The ground ripped apart as the explosions detonated, making contact with the trucks milliseconds later and blowing them to hell.

A fire quickly took over the front lawn of the city as the explosions mixed with the gasoline in the vehicles’ fuel tanks. Over two dozen trucks were obliterated, another five had caught on fire, and the pathway had been completely destroyed. The cars that weren't affected by the blast stopped in their tracks, and the one in the front got rear-ended after stopping so fast, making Fletcher smile.

BLURB:

Affer was once a peaceful planet, until a war broke out between its six inhabiting species. The humans, who were once the mightiest force on Affer, were massacred in droves, and the ones who survived the onslaught were reduced to mere slaves. The five other species divided the humans amongst themselves and returned to their respective kingdoms.

The years passed, turning into decades and centuries, without any change. Eventually, the humans had accepted their fate as slaves. All except one. Four hundred and seventy-three years later, Fletcher Rush starts his journey to free his kind...and conquer the planet.

I've always had a love for fantasy, and to this day LOTR and The Inheritance Cycle remain some of my favorite books. There are limitless possibilities when you're writing, but with fantasy, it's different. You don't have to adhere to rules or logic; you can create whatever type of world you want. Characters can live in a dystopian society, a grand futuristic city, a picture-perfect world, or a medieval wasteland. Time, technology, and magic are all there for the taking, and as a writer, you get to choose what defines your story.

As Leaf’s eyes adjusted to the dust floating in the sunlight coming through the window, he noticed something lying on a piece of timber from where the wall broke away. It was a rectangular, beaten -up, rusty -looking metal box that had seen better days.

As he picked it up, he could hear something slide about in the box. He thought it odd that a box was hidden in a bathroom, of all places. Leaf attempted to pry it open with his hands; however, the locks were rusted shut. Clearly, the moisture from being in the bathroom over the years had had an effect on the box.

Leaf grabbed his trusty hammer and chisel, and started whacking into the hinges in an attempt to gain access to the contents of the box. After a few minutes of laying into it and sweating some more, he finally succeeded. What Leaf found inside was a rectangular object wrapped in black hessian. Carefully and very delicately, he unwrapped it.

BLURB:

One hidden book. A forgotten country. Three mates on a journey that could change everything.

Nineteen-year-old Leaf Brodie is just an ordinary apprentice from Naracoorte, a small country town tucked between Adelaide and Melbourne. He lives a simple life apprentice builder, beers with mates by night until a routine renovation job uncovers something that doesn’t belong: a sealed, leather-bound book hidden inside an old farmhouse wall.

The book tells of a place that doesn’t exist on any map. A country called Xonarye, once nestled between Yemen and Somalia, rich in a rare, indestructible mineral called Xzed. Long ago, the people of Xonarye vanished beneath the ocean to escape war and greed—but not before scattering twenty-six mysterious keys across the globe. Now, generations later, the legacy of that hidden world has landed in Leaf’s hands.

Driven by curiosity and loyalty, Leaf enlists his two closest mates Spence, a level-headed farmer, and Summo, a flashy car salesman with a sharp tongue to help him decipher the book’s secrets. Together, they uncover a forgotten legal contract, a hidden vault in Adelaide, and a belt buckle that can’t be melted, burned, or broken no matter what they throw at it. And then comes the final clue: a name, a country, and a warning.

Reblick, a shadowy global organisation, is also searching for the truth and they’re watching.

As the line between myth and reality begins to blur, Leaf is forced to make a choice: walk away and return to his normal life, or follow the trail to Cuba and beyond… risking everything to uncover the truth of Xonarye’s fate.

I need you to get into that crate, ” she said, pointing to the middle of them. Leaf looked at her then looked back at the crates; it appeared as if there was just enough room for maybe two people to fit inside them at a squeeze.

He turned back to Selina and shook his head defiantly, indicating that he was not getting into what felt to him like a coffin.

Suddenly, Selina grabbed him and twisted his arm behind his back in what seemed like the blink of an eye. She leaned right up to his ear, and whispered, “ You need to hurry up and get into the crate before anyone sees us. I will be right next to you inside there.”

Leaf took another deep breath, feeling extremely anxious about the idea, and Selina released his arm and gave him a little nudge forward.

Leaf slowly slid over one of the edges of the crate and carefully laid down inside. Selina then did the same until they were both now lying in the crate, shoulder to shoulder, staring straight up into the afternoon sky.

Leaf was lying there in a state of anxiety, wondering what was going to happen next, when suddenly the lid was being placed on the crate. He instinctively put both his hand up to protect himself, but before he could stop the lid, Selina put her arm across his body.

Then, just as the wooden lid was about to be sealed, the friendly face of Vicente, the ship’s captain, appeared, and he said, “ You two all good?”

Selina gave him a quick wink back, and he slowly closed the lid, leaving nothing but little rays of sunshine squeezing through the cracks.

There was basically no room to move at all inside the crate, and Leaf couldn’t help thinking that this must be what it feels like to be in a coffin.

BLURB:

The trail of Xonarye leads to Havana. But nothing about this journey is simple

Leaf Brodie thought his life changed forever back in Naracoorte when he discovered the mysterious book sealed behind a wall. Now, he and Selina are in Cuba, chasing the next clue in a worldwide puzzle that dates back centuries. A transparent cloth has revealed a hidden map, and it points straight to Havana.

But nothing stays easy for long. Reblick the secretive organisation that once silenced Xonarye is still in pursuit. Leaf and Selina must decipher local legends, evade dangerous followers, and track down a man who knows more than he lets on. Meanwhile, Summo makes his way to Panama City, following instructions tied to a hidden safe house, while Spence travels by air and ferry from Havana to the island of Tobago, meeting a one-legged stranger with a mysterious past.

Scattered across three countries, the friends are tested like never before.

From bustling city streets to forgotten safe houses, the legacy of Xonarye continues to unfold—one fragment at a time. But with danger closing in, and Reblick growing bolder, it’s no longer just about solving a mystery. It’s about staying alive long enough to piece it all together.

In a world full of deception, their bond of friendship is the only truth they can trust.

The journey continues. The stakes are higher. The legend grows.

When  the dojo finally  came  into view,  Leaf’s  sense  of calm and safety was suddenly shattered.

The main  gate hung  open,  crooked  on its hinges.  Shards  of splintered  wood  lay scattered  across  the stone  pathway.  A few windows had been  shattered,  with broken  glass  spread  all around him.

The  paper screens  of the main  hall were torn and flapping  loosely  in the breeze.  It looked  like a storm  had blown  through  but there  had been  no storm.

Leaf’s  heart  pounded  in his chest.  He quickened  his pace,  stepping over the debris,  eyes scanning  every  corner.  The courtyard  was a mess,  the practice  weapons  strewn  about,  some  cracked  in half. The tatami  mats were shredded,  spilling  straw  across the floor like scattered  autumn  leaves.

“Selina?” he called  out, his voice  sharp  against  the silence.

“Yuji? Kenji?”

Nothing  but the breeze whistling  through  some  rocks  around  the dojo.

The rooms  were upturned.  Mats  tossed  aside,  scrolls  unravelled,  some  torn.  Kenji’s  study, usually  immaculate, was in chaos.  Books  were thrown  from  their shelves,  papers  were scattered,  and ink was spilled  like blood  across  the floor.  Kenji's  prized  calligraphy  scrolls  hung  lopsided,  some  sliced  through  as if by a blade.  The room  smelled  of old ink and cold air, carrying  a whisper  of ash as if something  had been  burned.

Leaf’s  mind  raced.  Who  would  do this? Why?

He moved  quickly  through  each room,  heart  hammering.  No one. No sign of life. He reached  the small  back garden  where  the snow  had settled  undisturbed.

Suddenly,  footsteps  crunched  behind  him. Leaf spun,  fists clenched.

Selina  stepped  out from  the shadows,  her eyes sharp,  surveying  the damage.

“What  happened?”  she asked,  voice  low and controlled.

Leaf shook  his head,  the words  tangled  in his throat.

BLURB:

A dangerous betrayal. The journey of Xonarye leads to the edge of trust and the heart of Japan.

Leaf Brodie’s path has already taken him across oceans, through hidden vaults, and into the shadows of a global conspiracy. Now, with Selina by his side, he arrives in Japan following a transparent cloth that revealed the next clue in the legacy of Xonarye. The trail leads them to the Tanaka Dojo, but instead of answers, they find silence. Master Kenji Tanaka is gone.

Guided by a new thread, Leaf and Selina travel west to Izumo, a city of ancient tradition and quiet mystery. There, they meet the elusive Master Kenji a wise Aikido master who speaks in riddles and tests Leaf’s strength in more ways than one. Earning his trust means staying hidden, training in secret, and learning to control not only his body, but his purpose. Six months pass in the mountains, and while Leaf grows stronger and understanding himself.

Unbeknownst to him, another student Yuji Morita. Younger, faster, and full of questions, Yuji becomes both a training partner and a shadow. But he’s not who he seems. As Leaf trains to protect the truth of Xonarye, Yuji’s true allegiance to Reblick threatens to undo it all.

Meanwhile, the pieces set in motion in Cuba. Spence and Summo remain out of contact. The clock is ticking.

From sacred dojos to coastal shrines, from quiet reflection to explosive action, Xonarye: Japan is a journey of honour, resilience, and trust. As the legend of Xonarye draws more eyes from the dark, Leaf must face the hardest question yet:

Who can he trust when the enemy is already beside him?
